Boustead In S$300M JV Contract To Build Township In Libya.

Boustead Singapore Ltd. (B04.SG) said Wednesday it has entered into a S$300 million joint-venture contract to design and build a township in Libya.
Boustead said in a statement it will hold a 65% interest in the contract, which it entered into with joint-venture partner General Construction & Building Co.
General Construction & Building is the largest government construction company in Libya, Boustead said.
The township will comprise 1,164 single-storey semidetached houses and supporting infrastructure at a 465-hectare site in the municipality of Al Marj |

Yesterday the Qaddafi Foundation for Charities and development Saif al-Islam, son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in the city of Benghazi laying the cornerstone of the complex project "Al-mawg tower" investment cost of 300 million dinars.
This is a complex venture, which laid the basis of the presence of Secretary of the General People's Committee d. Baghdadi Mahmudi, and a number of members of the Committee and Director of Branch retirement fund in Benghazi joint venture between the company retirement fund investments, and fund economic and social development.
It will take a period of the implementation of the project which will be held on Waterfront city of Benghazi 28 months.
This complex consists of three towers of the investment includes the tower first five-star hotel and II buildings and administrative offices luxurious with a third tower and luxury housing units.

A Saif al-Islam Gaddafi yesterday also laid cornerstone of new airport presence of the Secretary General People's Committee and secretary of the General People's Committee for Communications and Transport and the Secretary of the GPC Benghazi
The Canadian company SNC Lavalin Nexacor has 24 months to build the new airport.
The new airport will comprise a passenger station of a capacity of 5 million travelers per year and its construction plan provides for an extension depending on growth in air traffic industry.
It will be equipped with 20 operational gates at rush hours expected to reach a capacity of 4,000 travelers per hour, in addition to 10 secondary tarmacs for parking planes.
The airport will also comprise a freight station of 150,000 tonnes per year, as well as landing runways that can host 45 planes per hour and empowered to receive planes of the latest Airbus 330 type. |
TAV wins Tripoli Airport tender. 22-08-2007

Tepe-Akfen-Vie (TAV) Construction has won the tender for construction of Tripoli International Airport in Libya, a statement by the company said on Tuesday.
Releasing a statement, the company noted that the consortium, including TAV Construction, Brazilian-centered Odebrecht and Lebanese CCC companies, was formally awarded with the tender.
Within the scope of the project to be launched within a month, a terminal of 350,000 square meters and the most modern airport in the region will be constructed.
The terminal will have a passenger capacity of 20 million while the parking lot will be available for 4,400 vehicles.
The airport is expected to be constructed within two years.
Brazilian Odebrecht company has built the Miami Airport in Florida, USA while Lebanese CCC has constructed Beirut International Airport. |

HIB Selects AECOM as Primary Consultant.

The American AECOM Technology Corporation announced Wednesday that it has been selected as the primary consultant and program manager by the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya Housing and Infrastructure Board (HIB).
AECOM did not specify how much it is worth in dollars.
Based on the program management responsibilities, AECOM said in a press release that would become the main advisor for the Libyan HIB for major cities throughout Libya.
Following the initial phase, AECOM will work in conjunction with the HIB to implement a comprehensive housing and infrastructure
Development program for Libya that will create an enhanced environment for its citizens and visitors, the release said.
The HIB has indicated that the budget for these housing and infrastructure enhancement efforts is in excess of $40 billion, and will include the construction of new housing and infrastructure systems for all major cities in Libya; urban design and development; housing units and residential settlements; upgrades to existing infrastructure and utility systems; and environmentally focused sustainable processes.
"This agreement with AECOM reflects the significant commitment that Libya has made to improve our national housing and infrastructure," said Abuzaid Dordah, chairman, Libyan HIB as quoted by the press release.
"We have a unique opportunity to enhance the quality of life for our people and the economic potential for our country through this major housing and infrastructure development initiative."
"We are delighted to partner with AECOM, and its global network of expertise and resources, as we move forward in this exciting and historic period for our nation," Dordah added.
According to Dordah, AECOM's duties will include reviewing designs, plans, and studies submitted to HIB; assessment and review of current and ongoing design and construction projects; preparation of master plans, detailed plans and studies for water systems, sewage systems, roads, bridges, transit systems, and traffic systems for a number of large cities; and the establishment of management and control systems for all related projects.
